BENIN—Oba Ewuare II, Oba of Benin, weekend, assured Igbo communities and other ethnic groups in the state of the hospitality of the Benin Kingdom, saying they should ensure they contribute their quota to the growth of the kingdom.
Oba Ewuare II gave the assurance when executives and members of Igbo community in the state paid him a visit at his palace.
The Oba, who described the visit as surprising and overwhelming, urged all ethnic communities to feel at home and contribute to the development of their host communities, saying that the Igbo have been partners to the progress of the kingdom.
He commended the Igbo community for their respect for the Benin tradition and urged them to support the state government in its effort in realizing the Gelegele Sea Port project.
He said, “We want to assure the communities here of our hospitality. We want to express our gratitude to all the communities in our midst. We want to expresses our gratitude to communities and ethnic groups in Nigeria that recognise Benin Kingdom and that show a lot of respect for our culture.”
