Amosun vows to tackle herdsmen, smugglers’ challenges

ABEOKUTA — Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, yesterday pledged to ensure he ends the challenges facing farmers through the activities of herdsmen and smugglers.

Amosun, who stated this at the conclusion of a youth convention with the theme: Ogun Youths: Exploring New Frontiers, lamented the loss of an investor to the neighbouring state due to the problems of herdsmen and smugglers.

The governor who was reacting to an investor who left the state for Osun State as a result of herdsmen problem, said he was aware of the problem and would do the needful to protect investors in the state.

Meanwhile, the governor in a communique issued at the end of the two-day convention enjoined the youths to embrace agriculture, saying, the state government will make land available to interested youth – farmers.

Earlier,  Ace comedian, Mr Atunyota Akporobomerere, popularly known as Ali Baba, has lamented lack of “passion for success” in Nigerian youths.

Ali Baba said this absence of passion for success explained why the youths are unable to identify and harness business opportunities around them.

Ali Baba, who was a guest speaker at the event packaged by the Ogun State government said comedy and poetry are goldmine waiting to be tapped by the youths.

He recalled that when he started his career as a stand-up comedian in 1987, people never saw prospect in it but added that 10 years after, he received his first N1.6million  cheque after performing in a show.

He urged the youth to discover their passion, add value to it by making same serve purposes to the society and people who would gladly pay for it.

Other entertainers, who spoke and urged youths to discover their talents as well as having passion success included renowned movie Director, Tunde Kelani, Kunle Afolayan, TY Bello (actress), Dele Odule and TA.
