ABUJA- ACTING President Yemi Osinbajo has withheld assent to four bills already passed by both the Senate and House of Representatives.
In a letter to Senate President Bukola Saraki and read Wednesday at Plenary, Osinbajo said he was withholding assent to dangerous Drug Amendment Bill 2016; National Lottery Bill; Agricultural Credit Guarantee Scheme Fund and the Currency Conversion Freezing Order Amendment Bill. Meanwhile, Chairman, Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, PDP, Imo East has complained bitterly that his committed has so far submitted the outcome of the report after periods of sitting and no action has so far been taken on them.
According to him, if serious action was not taken on the work done so far by the Committee, it would affect the members and the morale of carrying out other assignments.
Responding, Senate President Bukola Saraki who promised that his complaints would be looked into, said that a special day would be created to clear these back log of reports submitted.
