THE first female Speaker of the Ondo state House of Assembly, Jumoke Akindele was last night sacked by 20 out of the 26 members of the assembly over alleged N15m fraud.
Others leaders of the assembly were not spared by the aggrieved lawmakers who wielded the big stick last night
Their sack is coming barely a month to the end of the tenure of the Dr Olusegun Mimiko administration in the state.
Vanguard learnt that the removal of the Speaker was carried out by 15 members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and five member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) late last night.
The lawmakers thereafter adjourned after the brief sitting.
An Acting Speaker and Deputy Speaker, Malachi Coker and Hon. Ayodele Arowele were respectively elected to carry out the activities house while Hon. Olamide George was elected as the majority leader.
Details of the impeachment were sketchy last night. But the lawmakers vowed not to back down even if the governor intervened like he did the last time she was impeached in March last year.

According to the lawmakers, the suspension of the three principal officers was sequel to the withdrawal of the sum of N15 millon by the embattled speaker, Akindele.
The Paymaster was said to have been caught by some lawmakers with the cash at the premises of the House of Assembly.
He reportedly said he was acting on the instruction of the suspended speaker to bring the money to her residence.
The house which eventually sat at late last night moved that the leadership under Akindele had failed them as there was no parliamentary approval for the said money found in the possession of the paymaster
Speaking with Vanguard Hon. Olugbenga Araoyinbo confirmed the development and said that 20 lawmakers of the Assembly signed the impeachment notice of the Speaker and her Deputy.
Araoyinbo said the impeachment was carried out within the premises of the Assembly, with the Clerk of House, Bode Akinyelu in attendance.
The sacked speaker could not be reached as her mobile phone had been switched off.
However, the Chairman, House Committee on Information, Hon. Siji Akindiose, described the action of his colleagues as null and void, insisting that the leadership of the Assembly remains intact. End
