Nollywood Yoruba actress, Funke Adesiyan has a way of speaking out her mind even when it doesn’t always go down well with many people.

Some months ago, when she bared her mind about the government of President Muhammadu Buhari, saying the President has disappointed those who elected him, she was bashed by many who labelled her PDP apologist. To that end, she was severally insulted.

Fast forward to now, the actress has also made her opinion known on the February 5th planned protest by artistes, championed by 2Face Idibia, by advising that it was not necessary, saying artistes and the youths should instead get involved in politics to change things in their favour.

“When people ask me why I joined politics, I tell them from the truest of my heart, that it is because I got tired of how things were being done in my country. It’s not enough for us to protest, it’s more important for us, youths of this beloved nation to get involved in governance. You could try many times before achieving it. Even if you fail all the time, you are a champion amongst those who didn’t try at all. Lets look around us, we will realize that we the youths are the driving force of our nation. We  are smart, intelligent, agile and we possess many more special qualities. Let’s not waste it protesting to a deaf horse…” says her post.

But instead of being appreciated for her statement, a barrage of negative comments were what hit her.

“With all sense of respect , I do not think you should give an anti-protest advice. We all know that Nigeria’s political system is a JOKE managed by some set of CONTEMPORARIES.

They wouldn’t give in KEY POSTS easily. And so long you’re under them, there’s every possibility that you get negatively affected. We need people like you to stand out on February 5, amidst other celebrities, it’ll evidently go a long way in making the masses realize that no one is pleased with the situation of this country. Examine the revolutionary trend in Ghana, it all started with protest,” says one who goes by the name Supreme Iconic.

Comment from one named Offialcog reads; “Please don’t refer to the protest as ‘waste’.. for all I know it is our democratic right. Since you joined politics as a youth what impact have you made? All this while we’v been suffering and smiling and now we have gotten a voice and you come out to call it waste?

On and on the comments kept pouring in but the actress who contested and lost a legislative seat in Oyo State under the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the last general elections stood her ground, saying she has been misunderstood.
