4 days after, abducted ex-council boss regains freedom

THE immediate past transition committee chairman for Ughelli North council area, Chief Friday Akpoyibo who was abducted last Sunday, has regained his freedom.

Chief Akpoyibo, younger brother to retired Assistant Inspector General, AIG of police, Marvel Akpoyibo, was released on Thursday alongside two others who were travelling with him when the hoodlums struck along the Auch-Abuja road.

Though details of his release was sketchy as at press time, a family friend of the Akpoyibos told Vanguard that the former council chairman has since reunited with his family at Ughelli following his release.

“He was released at about 6p.m on Thursday after an undisclosed amount of ransom was paid to his abductors,” the source stated.
