PDM urges Atiku to contest 2019 presidential election

ABAKALIKI- A Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Movement, PDM weekend called on former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to prepare his mind towards contesting the Presidential election come 2019.

In a statement issued in Abakaliki, the PDM chieftain, Chief Ajah Agha Arua stated that the former Vice President’s call for the restructuring of the country has created hope for the survival of the nation and its components adding that the party was gearing up to wrestle power from any political party in the next general election.

He commended the former Vice President for his commitment and support for the practice of true federalism in the country.

The statement read in part: “Atiku’s resolve to work conscientiously with other Nigerian Patriots to enthrone the tenets of a restructured Nigeria has become a beacon of hope for the survival of Nigeria. It equally shows Atiku’s moral ground as a tested democrat and popular leader of his generation.

“Based on the former Vice President’s concept of a restructured Nigeria, the PDM Ebonyi State wishes to use this platform to call on him to consider running for the 2019 general election.

“It is our expectation that the former Vice President will run on our platform but if not, the party wishes to assure him that, it will stand solidly behind him on any platform he wishes to contest the Presidential election.

“I, therefore wish to commend the untiring effort of former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the turakin Adamawa for his continuous intellectual enrichment of political discuss in Nigeria especially his commitment to work toward the return of Nigeria political architecture to genuine federalism”.
