Resign now, Ohanaeze youths tell Igariwey, Nworgu

By Ugochukwu Alaribe

ABA—The Ohanaeze Youth Council, OYC, has asked the President General and Secretary of its parent body, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Enwo Igariwey and Dr. Joe Nworgu, respectively, to resign their positions over alleged anti Igbo activities.

In a statement signed by its Public Relations Officer, Obinna Adibe, the Ohanaeze youth wing said it had uncovered a plan by  Igariwey and Nworgu to extend their tenure to 2019 or impose a successor and cause confusion in Igbo land if the plot did not work.

According to the statement, “the first step by Enwo Igariwey and Joe Nworgu was to disrupt the activities of the Ohanaeze Youth Council, who they see as being pro-Federal Government. They are now plotting to extend their tenure to 2019 or impose a successor on Ohanaeze Ndigbo.

“We are calling on well-meaning Ndigbo to resist the plot to hijack the group by Igariwey and his camp. They are planning to ban the youth wing because of our insistence that they should not be fighting the Federal Government but rather make case for more federal presence in Igbo land and build bridges with President Muhammadu Buhari.

“Instead of liaising with the Federal Government to bring more development to Igbo land, the President General and the Secretary have continued to mislead Ndigbo. They should resign their positions.”
