Lagos—A 59-year-old trader, Mariam Abu, who allegedly assaulted a lawyer, Mr. Charles Ola-Oni, was yesterday charged before an Igbosere Magistrate’s Court in Lagos.
The prosecutor, Sergeant Cyriacus Osuji, told the court that the defendant committed the alleged offence on October 17, at 8:20p.m. at the Central Police Station in Adeniji Adele.
Osuji said the defendant assaulted Ola-Oni because he had collected N30,000 to secure the bail of her brother, which he failed to do.
Magistrate A. T. Omoyele granted the defendant N20,000 bail, with one surety in like sum, who must be gainfully emplo-yed, show evidence of tax payment to Lagos State government and have their addresses verified; the case was adjourned till November 11.
