The Rangers International FC of Enugu will retain its victorious coach, Imama Amapakabo, and the players for the 2016/2017 season, an official has said.
Its General Manager, Paul Chibuzo, told newsmen in Enugu on Wednesday that Amapakabo had distinguished himself from other coaches in the league and must be retained.
“Honestly, Amapakabo was handed a season contract with an option of renewal and now we have found him worthy and must retain him for continuation.
“Amapakabo and the players have glued together and there is no need for separation so what we are going to do is to retain him and the players so that they will continue from where they stopped,’’ he said.
He also said that the coach was one of the youngest coaches in the league and for him to win the league in his first time in charge spoke volumes of him.
“Now we have finished the league as the champions. Nigerians are looking forward to seeing us do well in the CAF Champions League and we are hoping to prove it to them.
“It gives me joy that Amapakabo justified the trust we put on him by entrusting a club like Rangers into his hand and we want him to continue because he still has a lot to do.
“We still have continental trophy and more league trophies to fight for, so to avoid distraction and stories, the coach and the players are staying back,’’ Chibuzo said.
