BENIN—BENIN born billionaire, Captain Hosa Okunbor, has called on the governor-elect of Edo State, Mr Godwin Obaseki and the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, to close ranks in the interest of the Binis.
According to him, “What is paramount for me, which is my joy today, is that a Bini man, somebody from Edo South, emerged as the governor. That has been my dream and I thank God for that.”
Speaking to journalists during the commencement of the coronation of the Crown Prince of Benin as the new Oba of Benin, Capt. Okunbor said, “Both candidates belong to me. Pastor Ize-Iyamu is my very good friend, Godwin Obaseki is my family, so both of them are my own. But I will not want to speak much about the election because as you know, I am no longer into partisan politics. I am now an elder statesman. So, I just want the best for the state and peace for the state.
“It is nice for us to have peace. What I am happy about is that the two candidates are Binis, so, that is really what I am happy about that the governor has come to Edo South. That is what I always fought for, Obaseki has been declared the winner, I pray God to give him the wisdom to take our state forward and also have the listening ears for the Bini people.”
On the coronation of the new Oba of Benin, the business mogul said, “Today is a very significant day in the history of Benin. Last time, we escorted Edeikan to Uselu, and today we have started his coronation ceremony. With the crowd you see today, Benin is endowed with a rich culture, our culture is still very original, very authentic and unadulterated.”
