ABUJA- Emergency meeting the National Judicial Council, NJC, convened over the arrest of seven superior court Justices by the Department of State Service, DSS, ended without the council reaching a consensus on Tuesday.
Consequently, the Council which is headed by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Justice Mahmud Mohammed, extended further deliberation on the matter till Wednesday.
A source at the NJC who spoke to Vanguard on ground of anonymity, said though the action of the DSS was roundly condemned, “some however expressed divergent views on the issue”.
According to the source, though opinion varied on the matter, “members were however in agreement that the method the DSS operatives adopted against the Judges was bad and ought to be condemned in strong possible terms.
