Bauchi—The Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, has said 80 people were confirmed dead in Bauchi State, while 450 sustained injuries in road accidents from the month of January to September.
The Bauchi State Sector Commander of FRSC, Ibrahim Abubakar, disclosed this yesterday during the flag off of ember month sensitisation campaign.
The FRSC boss said the statistics called for serious concern, adding that the first phase of the installation of the proposed speed limiting device will target commercial vehicles, as a major step in reducing road accidents.
“Road safety is now everybody’s business and no sacrifice is too much to ensure the safety of lives; in this light, FRSC have mounted ambulances along routes connecting Bauchi State with other states in the North-East to respond to accidents on that axis” he added.
