KOBIS Restaurant Group, in conjuction with Inner City Mission for Children, has embarked on operation ‘Feed a Hungry Child’, targeting 10, 000 children in Lagos State.
Briefing newsmen, yesterday, in Lagos, the head of Business Operations, Kobis, Pastor Roland Dabor said the programme, which commenced yesterday, would run for the next 90 days across the state.
Dabor explained that indigent children would be given three square meals a day.
He lamented that, “5.8 million children die of hunger-related diseases across the world, including Nigeria” but expressed optimism that the drive and more partnerships would reduce the impact.
Dabor called on Nigerians to support the initiative, saying that the only “way to build an active society was to give total attention to the children. For the country to enjoy a better tomorrow, there must be proper investment in our children’s healthy growth today.”
On the need for public participation, he called for a donation of N1, 000 to give one child three square meals a day.
Besides, he said that proceeds made from souvenirs sales, would further increase the number of children to be fed in Lagos.
“It is one of the ways we are giving back to the society we have benefited from, especially as hunger bites harder in Nigeria”, Dabor said.
