114-year-old Alhaji Jimoh Odugbayi attended a special Jumat prayer at the Aliko Dangote Mosque, Crescent University, Abeokuta to honour Justice Bola Abdul-Jabbar Ajibola (SAN), the founder of the university.
The Friday coincided with the 114th birthday of the elder citizen.
A native of Emere Area, Itoku, Abeokuta, Ogun State, Odugbayi prayed for long life for the university and its founder.
This he premised on the vision behind the creation of the Crescent University by the former Judge of the International Court of Justice, Hague which is to produce morally sound future leaders.
Earlier in his sermon, Chief Imam of the Islamic Mission for Africa ( IMA), Sheikh Hameed Olanrewaju, quoting from Quran 57:2, emphasised that Allah had created death and life to test humanity, noting: “The best of you is he blessed with long life and does good work” (Hadith).
In his speech, he appreciated the centenarian for blessing the congregation and the university both with his presence and his words of wisdom.
Ajibola described Odugbayi, who is a member of IMA, as one of the oldest persons in Nigeria today.
He said, “Attaining centenary is rare and only the specially blessed can attain such in sound health.”
