Osogbo – Member of House of Representatives Kayode Oladele, representing Iyewa North Federal Constituency in Ogun, has pleaded with the Federal Government to strengthen anti-graft agencies in the country.
Oladele said by telephone on Saturday that the there were fundamental issues to be tackled by various anti-graft agencies.
According to him, those who are charged with the task of checkmating looters and sanitise the system must be motivated and trained periodically for better performance.
Oladele, the Chairman of House Committee on Anti-graft, advocated adequate funding for the agencies to perform well.
“The major driving force of anti-graft agencies is proper funding, it will be counter-productive for such organisations to be incapacitated by insufficient fund,’’ he said.
He said that inadequate funding of anti-graft agencies would hamper anti-corruption war.
He called for a robust mechanism in the process of recruiting officers into the various anti-graft agencies to guarantee patriotism and commitment to duty.
He said process of recruiting men and women to fight corruption should be thorough and stringent enough to detect people with criminal intents.
