C-River APC gov candidate denies collecting money from PDP during 2015 polls

By Emma Una

CALABAR—Odey Ochicha, the governorship candidate of All Progressives Congress, APC, in Cross River State in the 2015  general election, has described as malicious and unfounded,   rumours  in the state that he received money from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP,  to concede defeat to the party.

Ochicha told Vanguard in Calabar, yesterday, that  he  conceded defeat to the PDP candidate, Senator Ben Ayade, in the spirit of sportsmanship which  had been misinterpreted by some people to mean that he took money from the PDP during the election.

He said: “My attention has been drawn to some malicious and demeaning falsehood  being peddled by some people that I received money  as compensation from Ayade and  his party to concede defeat in the 2015 general election.

“Let it be stated for the records that I never had any transaction with Ayade before, during or after congratulating him. I did what I did in my wisdom, exposure and understanding of politics as an interesting game. In the spirit of sportsmanship, therefore, I want to inform the general public to disregard such wicked rumours.”
