School proprietor recants over N50m fraud allegation

By Daud Olatunji

ABEOKUTA—The National Deputy President of National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools, NAPPS, Yomi Otubela has denied ever accusing  the former President of the association, Dr. Abayomi Jiboku of misappropriating N50 million.

The erstwhile Deputy President denied making such pronouncement, and declared that, all media houses which used the story wrote fallacy.

Otubela’s lawyer, Ebele Omiyale in a letter written to  Jiboku’s  counsel said his client completely detached himself from the media report.

He said: “Our client could not have launched any public attack on your client as alleged in your letter. Therefore, any publication credited to our client and suggestive of any attack or defamation amount to gross misrepresentation. Our client denies making any uncomplimentary or derogatory remarks about your client.”

However, the denial of Odubela has been found to be an afterthought, following the content of his earlier petition  to Ogun State Commissioner of Police dated April 7,2016

The petition personally signed by Otubela accused Jiboku of sitting on N50 million proceeds of the association’s unified examination among others and called on the authority to help them recover same.
