Don Pedro Obaseki
By Gabriel Enogholase
CRISIS within Accord arising from the claim of Dr. Don Pedro Obaseki as the party’s governorship candidate has taken a new dimension as the Edo state chapter of the party has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) not to recognize him.
The state chapter in a statement issued in Benin yesterday and signed by Dr. Samson Isibor and Mr. Idehenre Emmanuel, Chairman and Secretary respectively, affirmed that Dr. Don Pedro Obaseki was not a card-carrying member of the party, saying that any primaries that produced him was illegal.
While appealing to Edo people to ignore whatever was the outcome of the primaries, they added that one Mohammed Nalado and his executive were removed from office by the leaders of the party for allegedly defrauding it.
They said that Nalado, who was an appointee of Jonathan Administration when he accepted to serve on the Governing Council of the Katsina, –Ala Polytechnic contrary to the constitution of the party which forbids an individual from holding two positions at the same time.
The party, therefore, warned all those parading themselves as Governorship candidate and State Chairman of the party to desist henceforth as the long arm of the law will catch up with them.
