World champions Germany and second-placed Poland qualified for the knockout round of Euro 2016 from Group C after winning their final group matches on Tuesday.

Germany beat Northern Ireland 1-0 thanks to a Mario Gomez goal, while second-half substitute Jakub Blaszczykowski secured the win for Poland against already-eliminated Ukraine in Marseille.

The results meant Croatia, Hungary and Slovakia are also guaranteed spots in the last 16,

Germany will now play the third-placed team in Group A, B or F in Lille on Sunday. Poland will face Switzerland in Saint Etienne on Saturday.
