This came as various groups continued to praise President Muhammadu Buhari for the appointment.

However, Alhaji Kawu assured that such moves by detractors would propel him to work beyond expectations to silence them.

He spoke when some groups visited him to thank the President for the appointment.

Among the groups were Ilorin Emirate Youth Development Association, IEYDA, and members of the Kawu family from Ikokoro compound in Ilorin.

In a letter of congratulation to him, Head of Ikokoro family, Alhaji Saadu A. Aluko, prayed for a successful tenure at the NBC, and on behalf of people of Kwara, thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for the appointment and Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism, Alhaji Lai Muhammed, for his support.

On its part, IEYDA, led by its President, Mr. Abdullahi B. Salau, said members were in Kawu’s house to felicitate with him and to pray for God guidance in the discharge of his duty at the commission.

Also speaking, Public Relations Officer, PRO, of the group, Mallam  Muhammad Uthman Jagunma, said “We are after the development of Ilorin in particular and Kwara state at large. We pray for the sustainability of the post and your success because it is only when you succeed that Kwarans will be proud of his representation.”

While thanking them for the visit and the prayer, Kawu promised not to disappoint the confidence repose in him.

He narrated how some people from Kwara State had been going round to work against his appointment.
According to him: “I  love my town, state and Nigeria as whole because it gave me opportunity to excel in life and when you have privilege you should be able to think deeply and give back to the society.”
