ABA—Presiding Judge of the Federal High Court, Owerri, Justice A. I. Alagoa, who is now hearing the tax forgery suit filed against Governor Okezie Ikpeazu by an aspirant in the December 8, 2015, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship primaries in Abia State, Sir Friday Nwosu, has warned parties in the suit against delaying the matter.

Justice Alagoa stated that there was no reason the suit, which is a pre-election matter, should not have been earlier decided. He warned the counsel to parties in the suit that he will not entertain any delay in the matter and directed parties to appear for the matter on June 1 for hearing.

Parties were fully represented by their respective counsel. Lead counsel to Nwosu, Frank Unyimadu, prayed the court to hear and decide the case urgently, stressing that  it was a governorship pre-election matter, which ought to have been decided before the April 11, 2015 general election to determine who was the lawful PDP governorship candidate between Sir Friday Nwosu and Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu.

Counsel to Governor Ikpeazu, Casmir Elele, also reported that all the documents had been filed and exchanged and issues joined between the parties.
