NNPC ex-Executive Director gunning for GMD, NDIMRC alleges

By Onozure Dania

Niger Delta Indigenous Movement For Radical Change, NDIMRC, has alleged that a  former Group Executive Director  of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, was desperately working to become the Group Managing Director of NNPC, even as they dismissed rumours that Dr Ibe Kachikwu has been sacked as the GMD of the  corporation.

It had been rumoured that Kachikwu had been fired and replaced with Dr Maikanti Baru, the Adviser to Dr Kachikwu on Gas.

In  a statement by its President, Nelly Emma, weekend, the group dismissed the rumour, saying: “Our attention has been drawn to misleading report that Dr Kachikwu has been sacked as the GMD of NNPC and to tell the general public that our checks revealed that it is not true and therefore, should be disregarded in its entirety.

“Our findings also revealed that a former ED was behind this devilish rumour. He is very desperate to become the GMD of NNPC and we want to implore President Muhammadu Buhari to be wary of him.

“He is not happy with the reforms being carried out in NNPC by the GMD of the corporation, Dr Kachikwu, and he feels that the only way to unseat a hard-working innocent man is to go viral that his boss has been sacked and he has been appointed to replace him.”

The group, while alleging that the individual was one of those who destroyed NNPC which Dr Kachikwu has been working round the clock to bring back to life, said: “Without apology, we want to say that he  doesn’t mean  well for the corporation.”
