Enugu State Government has earmarked N600 million to develop Nkanu East Local Government Area, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has announced.
Speaking when he played host to the people of Nomeh Unataeze community in the local government, the governor said he was aware of the key challenges facing some of the local government areas in the state, especially Nkanu East, Uzo-Uwani and Awgu local government areas.
Governor Ugwuanyi said: “Nkanu East tops the development agenda of this government. We are currently doing a multi-million naira Inyaba bridge because we cannot continue to entertain a situation where someone travelling from Amankanu area of Nkanu East, would have to go round, passing through many local government areas before getting to the council headquarters at Amagunze or other parts of the same local government.”
Earlier, the leader of the delegation and Special Adviser to the Deputy President of the Senate on Media, Mr. Uche Anichukwu, and the traditional ruler of the community, HRH Israel Mbah, commended the governor for his people-oriented projects and open door policy.
In a presentation entitled Our Road, Our Headache, Mr. Anichukwu described the Nenwe-Nomeh-Mburumbu-Nara Road as a critical infrastructure for Nomeh community and neighbouring states and geopolitical zones.
