UGHELLI—Niger Delta militant group, Niger Delta Avengers, NDA, which claimed responsibility for the February 14, explosion that rocked a Forcados pipeline, is threatening to battle the Nigerian Navy over its ban on the use of 200 Horse Power outboard engines on speed boats in the region.

The group, in a statement by its spokesperson, Mudoch Agbinibo, described as inhuman, the ban on 200hp outboard engines being used in the riverine communities of the Niger Delta.

Questioning the rationale for the ban, Agbinibo said, “Fast cars have not been banned despite the high rate of robbery in the country neither has Toyota Hilux and motorcycles been banned in the North-East when it is a documented fact that they are the operational vehicles of the dreaded Boko Haram sect.

“We are hereby calling on the Nigerian Navy to rescind the ban as refusal to heed this warning will propel us to declare a war on the Nigerian Naval force over its selective punishment of Niger Delta people.”
