The Edo State Police Command, still smarting from the spate of kidnappings that ravaged parts of the state in the recent past and as part of its increased general security alertness, especially with the gubernatorial election only a few months away, have decided to revisit some of the kidnapping cases in the state.
One of the cases presently being reviewed took place in Uromi, headquarters of Esan North East LGA during the last State elections of July 2012.
Following new leads from the alleged confessional statement by kidnap kingpins, Lucky Okonemen and Osolase Sydoff before they were allegedly killed in controversial circumstances, one Kingsley Osemudiahen Ihayere who is said to be a youth leader in the town has been adjudged to have a case to answer.
The said Ihayere’s present whereabouts are unknown. The police is believed to be on his and that of a few other suspects’ trail.
However some sources in Uromi pleaded the innocence of Ihayere, claiming that he may be the victim of political persecution as he was a known supporter and youth mobiliser for an opposition party in the state.
