He said this followed the report lodged on the matter at the headquarters of the Akure command.

Raji said a meeting was held yesterday between Falae, whom he represented and the commissioners of police of Ondo and Osun States in a bid to arrest the perpetrators.

According to him; “ Ondo police commissioner invited his counterpart from Osun to decide which command should handle the matter between the two commands.

“So, Osun CP asked the Ondo to go ahead with the investigation since Chief Falae resides in Ondo and if there is a need to transfer the case to Osun they would know later “

Raji said that the case was then handed over to the  State Criminal Investigative Department to check the roll-call of policemen on duty posts on Tuesday to know whether the policemen who escorted the bullion van were from Ondo or Osun states.

However, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Femi Joseph said the command had commenced investigation on the matter.

Joseph said “What I can say for now is that the case has just been officially reported at the command.

“We have started investigation, even though the incident is outside our jurisdiction, we will still investigate it.

Meantime, a group under the aegis of Defence for Yoruba Peoples Right yesterday asked the Inspector General of Police, IGP Solomon Arase, to fish out and bring to book the policemen who shot at the vehicle of  Chief Falae.

While condemning the attack of the politician, the group said the matter should not be swept under the carpet.

Chief Falae car was reportedly shot at by some policemen escorting a bullion van in Osun state on Tuesday on his way to a visit by some Afenifere leaders to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi.

The President of the group, Mr. Muyideen Olamoyegun called on the IGP to fish out the trigger-happy policeman in order to serve as deterrent to others.
