Determined to show case the maintenance culture of Nigerians, Tophorn Nigeria Limited, owners of Grills2Grills Restaurant is putting together a two-day unique motor show for Classic cars, muscle cars, super cars and a variety of motorbikes at the Tafawa Balewa Square Lagos.
The two day event which kicks off on the April, 2nd, 2016 has been design to put Lagos on the world map and showcase the maintenance culture of Nigerian who prize and cherished their classic cars.
Briefing newsmen on the median edition of the rare Motor Show, the Chief Executive Officer of Tophorn, Mr. Dapo Otunla said, away from celebrating new models and latest technologies in the automotive industry, the show will connect culture with automotive, while revealing classic cars, super cars, muscle cars and motorbikes which are iconic and extra-ordinary.
He explained that some people believed that Nigerians don’t have maintenance culture, yet people keep these classic cars over many decade and this is what we intend to showcase the world.
According to him the event is about creating a platform where unique car and bike owners in Nigeria and Lagos in particular can come and exhibit their prized possession and share them with members of the public.
The organsiers who gave the press a glimps of what to expect at the show had on display at the press briefing some iconic models like the MG Midget, built in 1977, Lotus Elise of 1994 and 1965. Mercedes 220 SE Coupe convertible, while promising that visitor would see cars made even before the Nigeria independent at the show.
“You will see real classic. There are others from the 1960s. A few Rolls Royce built many decades ago will also make it to the show that has been billed to display over 70 iconic cars and 30 bikes.
Mr Otunla, a lawyer and political scientist by training also hinted that thousands of visitors will be visiting the show which has been scheduled to hold every year. He further explained that there had never been a car show around like this as visitors will have on display iconic models built several decades ago in good shape
“People feel Nigeria has been written in the world map in terms automobile, but that the sector has always of being very vibrant in the country such that we have cars which are over 40 years old in perfect shape speaks volume of our maintenance culture.
