ASABA—NATIONAL Industrial Court, sitting in Enugu has ordered the National President of Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, Dr. Nassir Fagge to appear before it on March 15, 2016 to explain why he should not be committed to prison for disrespecting the orders of the court.
The court also ordered Dr. David Ejenobo of the Department of Religion and Philosophy, Delta State University, Abraka and his colleague, Dr. Emmanuel Obi Nwafor of the Microbiology Department to appear before it to answer to the charge of alleged contempt ex facie curiae.
Giving the order, trial judge, Justice Auwal Ibrahim, said that the actions of the trio were capable of bringing the integrity of the court to disrepute and ordered that the hearing summons be issued and served personally on them.
The court, however, said that the defendants were still within time to respond and therefore and gave them up till March 15, 2016 to respond.
Counsel to the plaintiff and Chairman of Delta State University, Abraka chapter of ASUU, Prof Abel Diakparomre, had told the court that Dr. Fagge, Dr. Ejenobo and Dr. Nwafor have a case of gross contempt to answer for disrespecting the orders of the court.
