ABUJA—The NATIONAL Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN, yesterday, took a swipe at former governor of Lagos State and leader of All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, for attacking the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Ibe Kachikwu, saying he could not always have his way.

According to NYCN, Tinubu should not distract the Minister and the petroleum sector because of the reforms the minister was initiating in the sector.

NYCN National President, Ikenga  Ugochinyere, said it was clear that the essence of Tinubu’s   statement was not to help in any way to solve the problem, but cast Mr. Kachikwu in bad light and put pressure on Mr. President to sack him.

He said:  “Bola Tinubu vehemently opposed the appointment of Mrs. Onikepo Animashaun as the General Manager of the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company NPDC, by Mr. Kachikwu.

‘’The appointment was in Tinubu’s view done on the recommendation of Pastor Tunde Bakare and with the blessing of Babatunde Fashola who is believed not to be in Tinubu’s political structure.

“The attention of the National Youth Council of Nigeria has been drawn to the massively sponsored statement by Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu lambasting the Minister of State for Petroleum, Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu.

“Bola Tinubu vehemently opposed the appointment of Mrs. Onikepo Animashaun as the General Manager of  NPDC, by Mr. Kachikwu.”
