Youth leader’s disappearance: Supporters protest to Olu of Warri

By Egufe Yafugborhi

WARRI—PROTESTS over the disappearance of Ofe Nene Pender, a youth leader in Ugborodo, Warri South-West Local Government Area, Delta State, yesterday, shifted to the Aghofen Palace of the Olu of Warri, HRM Ogiame Ikenwoli, where the angry youths drew the attention of the Itsekiri monarch to the development.

The missing Pender is a chairmanship contender in the forthcoming Ugborodo youth leadership election and his supporters who stormed the Olu’s Palace, alleged that some interests within the community masterminded his sudden disappearance to deny him participation in the election.

Dogho Joseph and Kenny Nuko, who spoke to Vanguard during the protest, said: “Regarding the forthcoming youth election, some persons want to be returned unopposed hence the impunity against one of our youth leaders most favoured to win. At some point, he was arrested and up till now we have not heard from him. We don’t know where he was taken to.

“We have come here today to report this matter to our father, the Olu of Warri before we take further steps.”

They said that as far as they were concerned, the election will be peaceful.
