The team visited the traditional ruler of the area who took them to the home of the prime suspect and knocked at door while announcing its presence.

The PPRO said: “Okugo who is the father of the alleged kingpin opened the door and descended on an officer, knocking him down and inflicting on him deep machete cuts in the process.”

“They destroyed Esther’s property and escaped by the time the officers arrived, as we cannot establish any case of cult clash and death because we did not see any corpse,” he said.

He noted that the matter was being expected at the police headquarters in Abakaliki for investigation.

Vanguard learned that the wounded officer is responding to treatment at the Mater Misericaordea Hospital, Afikpo.
