By Jimitota Onoyume

The kidnappers of octogenarian mother of Rivers State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mrs Patience Tam-George, have demanded for N30 million ransom.

The Commissioner, Dr. Tam-George, told the Vanguard on phone that his 85-year-old mother was whisked away by unknown gunmen, weekened, at George Ama area of the Okrika town, Rivers State.

He said the kidnappers contacted an uncle with his mother’s phone demanding for N30 million, adding that they also allegedly condemned the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state for lashing at their action.

He said his mother had some health challenges, pleading that she should be released.

The Commissioner said: “I am begging those holding my mother illegally to please release her. She is not too fine. Please they should release her.”

When contacted for comment, the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ahmad Muhammad, said police was aware of the kidnap of a lady in the area, but was not sure if she was the mother of the Commissioner for Information, adding that effort was on to rescue the victim.
