Mobile device maker, Infinix Mobility has launched a football tournament for Nigerian youths.
Themed: ‘Infinix HOT Cup’, Infinix said the tournament is geared towards promoting engagement and team working skills amongst Nigerian youths, adding that Nigerian youths need to be motivated through activities that will help them champion their skills while working together with their peers.
The tournament is expected to host 56 young Nigerians drawn from different tertiary institutions in Lagos State including: University of Lagos, UNILAG, Lagos State University, LASU and Yaba College of Technology, YABATECH. The competition which has kicked off since February 6th, 2016 at Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, in Ikeja will continue till March 5th 2016.
Speaking on the motivation for the tournament, Inifinix’s Public Relations Manager, Marotta Camille said: “With Infinix HOT CUP, we have a competition that will empower Nigerian youths and show their determination towards the sport. Football will help young Nigerians to groom their team building skills and work together to achieve a common goal. Winners of today make tomorrow’s leaders.”
As part of extending the participation of the tournament to more Nigerian youths, the devce maker said: “There will also be an online version of the competition for followers of the event which is open to everyone who is not kicking the ball.
This will involve a series of “predict & win” competition running along the event in which Infinix fans can support their favourite university team and in anticipation of the new smartphone yet to be launched by Infinix mobility, fans stand a chance to be one of the first people to own the smartphone by predicting winners of every match.”
