Former Director General of the National Sports Commission Hon Gbenga Elegbeleye will on Saturday be installed as the Otunba of Ikareland by His Royal Highness Oba Akadiri Momoh , the Olukare of Ikareland and the Olukare in Council.
The former legislator who succeeded Chief Patrick Ekeji as the DG of the National Sports Commission was singled out for this honour in recognition of his selfless service to the nation, Ondo State and Ikareland.
Elegbeleye who confessed that he wasn’t expecting to be honoured with this exalted Chieftaincy title disclosed. “I have never taken any traditional title from any part of the world in my life, but this is a title that my people hold very dear and sacred.
“It has only been conferred on one person in the history of our kingdom and that was .the late elder statesman, Otunba Mohammed Jobi Fele. I am the second privileged son of the land to hold the title”, Elegbeleye disclosed.
