LAGOS—Justice Lateef Lawal Akapo of a Lagos High Court sitting in Ikeja has fixed February 17 for ruling on the motion to quash the N1.5 billion subsidy scam charges preferred against Mahmud Tukur and four others.

The other defendants are: Ochonogor Alex, Abdullahi Alao and their companies: Eterna Plc and Ax Energy.

In the charge brought by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, the defendants were accused of obtaining the sum N761,628,993.84 from the Federal Government under the Petroleum Support Fund for the purpose of importing 16,808,064 litres of petrol but fraudulently imported only 7, 953,962 litres and diverted the rest of the product and its proceeds for personal use.

Tukur’s counsels, Olaniran Obele and Ebun Adegoruwa had prayed the court to quash the charges against their clients.
