National coordinator, Oodua Peoples Congress, Otunba Gani Adams, has called on religious leaders in the country not to allow religion to cause division in the country, rather they should allow the will of God for peace to reign in the country.
He also urged members of his organisation to focus on God in the new year so that they can have successful year.
Speaking during the annual thanksgiving service of the organisation, held in Lagos, the OPC leader said the event was organised to thank God for the past year and solicit His support to be able to have successful programmes in the new year.
He reiterated the need for people to focus on God and trust him to be able achieve better results in the new year.
Gani Adams also urged Yoruba to continue to promote culture and tradition, adding that culture is a very important aspect of a man’s life.
“Any man who loses touch of his culture has nothing to live for. Your culture is the totality of who and what you are, therefore culture plays very important role in the life a man”, he said.
He also refutes the belief as alleged by some people that he and members of OPC do not worship God. According to him, the group is not a religious organisation but a socio-cultural one whose aims and objectives are geared towards extolling the glory of God through its different activities.
According to him the OPC programmes for the year include Olokun festival; Osun Osogbo festival; Okota festival and Eledumare festival. Others include Olumo festival; Oranimyan festival; Oodua festival and Ogun festival, among others”, he said.
