Ikeja – A former Minister of Education, Dr Oby Ezekwesili, will on Jan. 15 deliver a paper at the 12th Annual Gani Fawehinmi Lecture organized by the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Ikeja Branch.
The theme of the lecture is, “The Collapse of Public Education and the Past, Present and Future Prospects of the Nigerian State.”
The venue of the lecture is Lagos Airport Hotel.
A literary giant, Odia Ofeimun, will also deliver a paper at the occasion, while Mr Lanre Arogundade, the Director, International Press Centre, Lagos, will moderate.
The Chairman of NBA Ikeja Branch, Mr Yinka Farounbi, told a media briefing on Wednesday in Ikeja that the lecture which was inaugurated in 2005, was part of activities lined up to honour the late legal icon, great advocate and defender of the masses.
The occasion will be used to distribute free copies of Fawehinmi’s book titled, “People’s Right to Free Education (At All Levels)’’ which was first published in 1974.
A website dedicated to Fawehinmi’s works will also be unveiled at the lecture, according to the organisers.
