King of Nigerian comedy, Ali Baba has made good on his promise to reward the star winner of the third edition of his annual comedy talent hunt show tagged “ Ali Baba’s Spontaneity, with a car gift.
The ace-comedian redeemed his pledge on Tuesday, as he handed over the key to a brand new car to the winner of the comedy show, Aderombi Adedayo popularly called Dee-One.
Dee-one beat Emeakpore Ofajemue a.k.a Short Family and Tolulope Olayiwola popularly known as Remote who also smiled home with consolation prizes of N250,000 and N200,000 respectively as the first and second runners-up, to clinch the star prize.
Speaking at a brief hand-over ceremony, which held in his office, on the island, Ali Baba said, he decided to establish the comedy show in order to provide fast rising comedians the platform to showcase their talents with fresh, original and undiluted jokes which they will have to generate live on stage.
The comedy merchant lamented the prevailing trend where some established comedians are not only repeating jokes, but also, featuring their colleagues’ jokes at random. He promised to monitor the star winner’s growth in the industry for one good year. “Ali Baba’s Spontaneity is a new platform to help truly creative comedians to ride the waves of their careers to fame and fortune,”he said.
The winners emerged from the 10 finalists, who were selected at an event held at Muson Centre, on the 13th of September, 2015. They performed on stage with Alibaba, during the legendary comedian’s January 1, 2016 concert, which held at Eko Hotel and Suites.
