THE Arewa Youths Consultative Forum, AYCF, has faulted the recent Appeal Court judgement which sacked Dr Okezie Ikpeazu as Abia State governor, describing it as heart breaking and unjustifiable.

In a statement by its National President, Alhaji Yerima Shettima, the Arewa youths said: “It is unthinkable that the five Judges showed such high level of unethical behavior, lack of judicial professionalism on the bench, and no remorse and respect for the rule of law and the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

Describing the verdict as an aberration of justice, the group’s president said “for these five Appeal Court Judges that sat in Owerri, Imo State on 12/31/2015 to render this unconscionable and inhumane judgment against Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu government contrary to the national electoral laws of the land is an aberration of justice and rule of law.

“Secondly, it is also against the wishes and mandate of Abians who have spoken loud and clear through an electoral process. Third, more concerning to this kangaroo judgment was the manner whereby the largest majority of citizens of the state that total up to 300,000 voters including the governor himself were disenfranchised and denied of their constitutional rights of free and fair elections in their own state of Abia.”
