Troops arrest five sea pirates, two  oil thieves in Bayelsa

Troops  have arrested five suspected sea pirates and two oil thieves in the creeks of   Sangala in Southern Ijaw Local Government area   of Bayelsa State.

According to the Commander, Operation Pulo Shield, Major General Alani   Okunlola, the suspects were arrested by troops of Sector 2 three days ago in Southern Ijaw while patrolling the creeks.

Represented by the Coordinator, Joint Media Campaign Centre, Col Isa Ado, the Commander said the troops recovered four short guns, four  cartridges and 12 mobile handsets and other valuables from the suspects.

He gave the names of the suspects as Gabriel Abel, 23, Ebiaredia Godday, 23,   Samson Ezekiel, Gift Enihus and Richard Christian.

The suspects, in custody of the military, he said, would be handed over to the prosecuting agencies at the conclusion of preliminary investigation.
