Buhari, a lesson in leadership – Yahaya Bello

By Kingsley Fanwo
Kogi Governor -Elect, Alh. Yahaya Adoza Bello has joined million of Nigerians to extol President Buhari on his birthday, referring to the President as a Nigerian whose resilience has given hope to Nigerians.
Speaking exclusively to Vanguard in Lokoja, Wednesday, Bello said the President is leading with the determination to return the glory of the nation that was battered by years of misrule and recklessness.

“Today, what we celebrate is a man who has redefined leadership in our great country; a man whose lifestyle and leadership has given hope to our 150 million people to reignite their belief in their fatherland.
“Today, such belief is translating to pragmatic leadership, commitments to infrastructural development, unwavering war against corruption in such a frenetic manner hailed and appreciated globally, an undeniable desire to rebound Nigeria to the front of African leadership and a gradual return to accountability.

“Those who think Nigeria is a cave of corruption are beginning to rethink their misconceptions. With the Buhari leadership, the world is beginning to reckon with our nation as we are regaining our extra-territorial integrity as a nation and a people”.

The Governor-Elect charged Nigerians to rally round the president and support the anti-corruption drive of his administration in order to remove graft and indiscipline from our national life.

“Moving forward, we must unite with Mr. President to enable him achieve his goals which are capable of rewarding our determination to elect the great Nigerian leader on March 28. Today, even those who failed to see what the majority of Nigerian saw in President Buhari, are beginning to key into the drive for our nation’s renaissance.

“The greatest benefit of the Buhari presidency to my generation is the opportunity we have to see a hero lead our nation in our lifetime. I want to assure Nigerians that when we resume office in Kogi on January 27, 2016, we shall also bring back the glory of Kogi State.

“The circumstance of our emergence has underscored the divine assignment bestowed upon us to take Kogi State to the promise land. Our victory in Dekina Local Government Area during the December 5, 2016 was the first time a non-Igala will win a governorship election in Igala area.

“The moral lesson here is that Kogi was never a divided state. The responsibility here is to provide a pragmatic leadership that will redefine the state and make her the epicentre of development and economic recovery”.

He called on all aggrieved parties in the November 21 and December 5 governorship elections to rally round his government to achieve the change promised the state, saying his government will adhere strictly to the manifesto of the party and his New Direction Blueprint for Kogi development.

“With the conclusion of the governorship election in Kogi State, I call on all my opponents to join hands with me to achieve development and move our dear state forward”.

Also, the Governor-Elect said the intra-party disagreement which trailed his emergence is a “family affair and a disagreement between brothers”, which he said will soon be over.
