PORT HARCOURT—TWO suspected kidnappers were gunned down by the Police at Umubele waterfront in Port Harcourt yesterday.
Spokesman of Rivers State police command, DSP Ahmad Muhammad, said the kidnap suspects were guarding two hostages when the police stormed their hideout.
He said in the ensuing gun battle, the police shot the two kidnap suspects dead and rescued the two hostages in their custody,
“A tactical unit of the Command stormed Umubele waterfront in Port Harcourt and successfully rescued two kidnapped victims, namely David Eke and Callistus Nnamdi. The victims were kidnapped along Airport road, Port Harcourt.
“Two unidentified suspected kidnappers found guarding the rescued victims were gunned down during exchange of fire that ensued.
‘’Two locally made pistols, four cartridges and charms were recovered from the deceased kidnappers, “ he said.
