NLC

Warri—Delta State factional chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Williams Akporeha, has faulted recent comments by another factional chairman, David Ofoyeno, who claimed that there was no faction in the state NLC, saying the latter was blinded by his desperation for power at the expense of the unity of labour movement in the country.
Akporeha, while reacting to Ofoyeno’s claims that he leads the only NLC in the state, contended that in all the 36 states of the federation there are factions arising from the state elections held by both Ayuba Wabba and Joe Ajaero-led faction of NLC at the national level.
According to him, arrogating congress leadership in Delta State to only Ofoyeno and allegation of non-existence of factions in the NLC as published in the media, was just Ofoyeno ignoring the reality on ground.
He said: “Ofoyeno’s claims are not even close to the truth of the present reconciliation process in the NLC but he is only exhibiting his desperation for leadership to deceive workers in the state. We wonder why Ofoyeno chose to resort to peddlling misleading information to undermine the ongoing work of a seven-man peace committee headed by the pioneer NLC president, Hassan Sumonu. Sometimes you wonder why those who are desperate for leadership have to descend to a level where they have to tell lies and exhibit their ignorance in public.”
