Ado-Ekiti—The Ekiti State Independent Electoral Commission, EKSIEC, has indicated its intention to use electoral materials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for the conduct of local government elections scheduled to hold on December 19, 2015.
The chairman of EKSIEC, Justice Kayode Bamisile (retd), who made the demand while on courtesy visits to the office of the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mr. Samuel Olumekun and the State Police Commissioner, Etop John James, explained that his commission will utilise INEC’s voters’ register and voters’ cards.
He also told the State Police Commissioner that the SIEC would rely on his men for a smooth, free, fair and credible elections.
Justice Bamisile stressed that support of the Federal agency in the area of human development would be appreciated adding that SIEC was prepared to tap into the wealth of experience of INEC in a bid to guarantee a successful elections.
Reiterating the commitment of EKSIEC to the successful conduct of lawful and democratic Local Government elections as scheduled, Bamisile said that all relevant forms had been dispatched to all interested political parties in the State, adding that all candidates have also been screened accordingly.
