Council chairmen not defecting to APC— PDP

By Kingsley Fanwo

LOKOJA — Mopamuro Local Government chapter of Accord Party has adopted the governorship candidate of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Capt Idris Wada, ahead of the November 21 guber polls in Kogi State.

Gov Wada

This came as the Media and Publicity Committee of the Wada/Awoniyi Campaign Organization dismissed ongoing rumours that the recently reinstated council chairmen across the 21 local government councils in the state were planning to defect to the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Addressing a PDP rally in Mopamuro, leader of Accord Party in the local government area, Commodore Folusho Daniel (retd,) said the decision of the party was occasioned by the transformation agenda of Wada’s administration and the need to ensure fairness in power distribution in the state.

According to the former instructor with the National War College, it is pertinent to work for Wada’s emergence in order to allow him complete ongoing projects across the state.

He said: “As a party in Mopamuro Local Government Area, we have considered the two candidates and come to the conclusion that Wada is the better candidate of the two. He is a leader that is humane, humble and genuinely committed to the development of the state.

“As an advocate of power rotation, I believe Prince Abubakar Audu lacks the will and capacity to effect power rotation in 2020. The PDP has shown a better framework for the actualization of power rotation in the state.”

Speaking in the same vein, the Secretary of Accord Party in the local government area, Mr. Emmanuel Remi Owotunse, said the decision to work for the success of PDP in the governorship election was reached after series of meetings to arrive at a popular decision.

Council chairmen not defecting to APC — PDP

Meanwhile, the Media and Publicity Committee of Wada/Awoniyi Campaign Organization has dismissed ongoing rumour that the recently reinstated council chairmen across the 21 local councils in Kogi State were planning to defect to the opposition APC.

In an exclusive chat with Vanguard in Lokoja yesterday, chairman of the committee, Prince Bode Ogunmola, said the rumour underscored the desperation of the opposition party to spread falsehood for political gains.

Ogunmola said: “The recent reinstatement of the council chairmen has been a nightmare to the APC who are desperate to use falsehood to win the sympathy of the electorate that has continued to reject their candidate since 2003. Falsehood and unintelligent propaganda won’t save Prince Abubakar Audu from another defeat on  November 21.”

“ The reinstated chairmen have continued to pledge their unalloyed support to the governor. They are playing active roles in our ongoing electioneering and will win with Wada come  November 21. What the APC propagandists have failed to know is that there exists a perfect chemistry between the council chairmen, the SSAs and our governor. PDP is one indivisible family in Kogi State”.
