KOGI State Governor and candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP in next month’s governorship polls, Capt. Idris Wada, has assured traditional rulers of continued support to ensure they perform critical roles of ensuring peace and stability in their domains.
The governor gave the assurance while addressing the paramount ruler of Egbe, HRH Oba Ayodele Irukera at his palace, on Tuesday. He hailed the royal father for enthroning peace in his area.
According to the governor, it is imperative to empower the traditional institution in order to ensure effective partnership for societal development.
“Since the inception of my administration, I have maintained a close relationship with our royal fathers because they are critical partners in our effort at ensuring peace and unity among our people. Under my administration, we have shown tremendous respect for traditional rulers in the state unlike some leaders who always try to subdue the royal fathers. Our government shall continue to tap from the knowledge of royal fathers and I want to assure them of the continued security of their offices.’’
The governor who later addressed thousands of party supporters at the Ajaforunti Unity Square, said Egbe will continue to be a centre for academic and healthcare excellence, assuring the people of the local government of increased patronage, if re-elected into office.
At Odo Ere, the governor who was received at Okutadudu thanked the people of the local council for their continued support.
