THE North-East Youth, Peace, Development and Empowerment Initiative, NEYPDEI, has disassociated itself from a statement calling for the removal of Mr. Rotimi Amaechi’s name from the list of ministerial nominees.
Its National President, Alhaji Kyrai Abubakar, said in a statement that the group never asked President Muhammadu Buhari to replace Amaechi with another nominee from Rivers State.
His words: “The Coalition of Northern Youths did not speak on behalf of the North East Youths who do not concern itself with political matters. The North East Youths are not aware of the Coalition of Northern Youths group and had never been consulted or invited for any meeting.
“We hereby distance ourselves from any such political comment on Amaechi and others. Our major problem in the North-East is the insurgency facing the people of the zone and its devastating effect on the political, economic and social life.”
“We want to speak for ourselves in matters like this and give our mandate to any group recognized by us to speak on our behalf. In conclusion, the Coalition of Northern Youth Group should endeavour to leave the North-East Youths alone.”
