BENIN—Edo State House of Assembly yesterday confirmed the appointments of three commissioner nominees presented to it by Governor Adams Oshiomhole, penultimate week.
The commissioners confirmed include Chief Tom Uloko, a Chartered Accountant, who was Chairman of the State Procurement Agency; Mr. Gideon Obhakhan, who was a candidate of All Progressives Congress, APC, in the 2015 House of Representatives election and Prince Joseph Okojie.
Majority Leader of the House, Mr Folly Ogedengbe, who spoke during the confirmation of the nominees, said: “We have scrutinized their credentials and their antecedents and we found that they are men who have distinguished themselves in their fields. It is our belief that they will bring their wealth of experience to bear and assist the governor in moving this state forward.”
Meanwhile, the gale of suspensions of local government council chairmen in Edo State continued yesterday, with the suspension of the Akoko-Edo Local Government Area Chairman, Mr. Akereoja Folorunso by the state House of Assembly for a period of two months.
He was suspended sequel to a petition of alleged financial misappropriation sent to the House of Assembly by one Mr. Bello Sunday.
Akerejola is the 5th council chairman to be suspended this week following Tuesday’s suspension of four council chairmen, namely, Osaro Obazee (Oredo) Victor Enobakhare (Egor) Roland Ibierutomwen (Orhiomwon) and Emmanuel Momoh (Estako Central).
