ASABA—NATIONAL and State Houses of Assembly Election Petition Tribunal panel one, sitting in Asaba, the Delta State capital, has struck out the petition by the Labour Party, LP Candidate for the Warri South constituency II, in the Delta State House of Assembly, Mr Bright Obodo against Chief Denis Omovie of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.

Obodo went to the tribunal to challenge the declaration of Omovie as winner of the State House Assembly election in the constituency by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

Striking out the petition, chairman of the 3-man panel tribunal, Justice L M Boufini, said the petition was not signed by the second petitioner.

Reiterating that the petitioner did not comply with paragraph 4 (3) (b) of the first schedule of the electoral act, Boufini insisted that the absence of the second signatory rendered the petition invalid.

Speaking with newsmen after the judgment, Omovie expressed gratitude to God for the victory at the polls and at the tribunal.

Omovie thanked all his constituents for their support during the election and tribunal case and promised not to betray the confidence reposed in him by his constituents.
